Vision Meats, situated in Klerksdorp, Gauteng, is a successful meat wholesaler with a growing number of visitors to their outlet shop. To provide an additional revenue stream the business sought to oen a fast-food takeaway outlet in a 40ft food container with the goal and vision of supplying its customers with an added value of fast-food takeaway meals, with meat from their butchery.
The client came with a detailed brief and had a thorough consultation with Culinary Equipment Company. Looking for a turn-key kitchen solution which provides smooth kitchen workflow and high-quality equipment required to meet the demands of the fast-food takeaway container.
The Culinary team set off for the initial site visit to confirm measurements and discovered the container had an additional space of 1.5m for storage, which was then initiated in the kitchen layout.
The additional 1.5m space of the container was allocated to the storeroom. The prep area consisted of a small sink for rinsing equipment and for cooking water. A scullery area was not included in the design as kitchen equipment was cleaned within the existing scullery inside the shop.
To keep in line with the butchery business, the takeaway meals are mostly meat-based and required equipment that can cook all kinds of meat in rapid time. The Culinary team recommended the world-renowned charcoal oven - the Josper charcoal oven (A Josper can cook a 1kg T-Bone steak to medium rare in 14 minutes - including resting). A combination of a grill and oven in a single machine, that does not require any electrical connection, plumbing nor gas - just 100% charcoal. And with the ability to heat up and prepare cooking in the morning and to have the Josper charcoal oven available for cooking throughout the day. A very big investment at the beginning, but very cost-effective in the long run. The centre of the equipment layout would need to be in the centre cooking line to display the Josper charcoal oven.
The cold kitchen area consisted of upright fridges, underbar fridges for storing and display cold drinks and prep ingredients.
The hot kitchen area consisted of fast-food equipment such as a chip fryer with automated lifting systems, a chip dump. Smooth flash grill, bain-marie, food warming unit (hold-o-mat), wall-mounted pan cooler and other stainless steel furniture.

The last site check was conducted for services to determine if the site was ready for installation. All electrical and plumbing points were placed in the required positions and ready for equipment installation.
The equipment installation by Culinary's in-house technical team took a brief period just 2 days and on the third day, followed staff training on the kitchen equipment by Culinary team to ensure a successful launch of the fast-food takeaway container.
